So, till now I have explained about equation and how to find it out. It’s a piece of cake if we have a time and date we can plot the positions of the other celestial bodies around the earth. We can also calculate its distance from earth and predict exact intensity of planetary waves coming from that planet.
Note: Here planets include sun and moon also. And in Sanskrit all bodies in celestial space are commonly called GRAHA.
But there were no big scales and measuring instruments to measure the distance of those planets from earth. But our ancient astronomers and scientists (Re’shi s or Muni s)by series of observations and research came to realize even though the earth rotates and moves around the sun the above stars won’t get scattered away from the earth’s view and keep the shape tight all time. So they did star gazing years together and came to a conclusion that they can keep these stars are reference points and can be clubbed each other to form a figure like structure called ‘Constellation’. They closely observed and made 12 tight constellations around the earth and distributed it across earth’s circular plane. They divided earth’s circular plane which is 360 degrees to 30 degrees each. And each 30 degrees points one unique constellation. Those 12 constellations are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.
For these constellations, they named it as houses and they named the key stars in it for marking positions in precise. (The above figure shows in crisp how planes are divided to different constellations.)
They then started marking of each planet every day and night for years together and started tracing their orbits around the sun and also its different positions at different instants of time from the earth. By this they could trace the speed of each planet and its movement in precise.
For example let us consider movement of planet Jupiter. Presently Jupiter is in Sagittarius. It has moved to this house from Scorpio back in November 2007. The entire Sagittarius house or block is over all 30 degrees part of the earth’s circular plane. This 30 degrees plane is shared by 3 key stars namely
1) Moola Nakshatra.
2) Purvashada Nakshatra.
3) Uttarashada Nakshatra.
Each star is further divided into 4 phases named ‘Paadas’ as 1st paada (1st phase), 2nd paada (2nd phase), 3rd paada (3rd phase), 4th paada (4th phase).
When Jupiter enters from Scorpio to Sagittarius, it is said to have arrived at 1st paada of moola nakshatra. Further more if we know the exact speed of Jupiter we can say it will reach the next phase, or next to next phase or to the next house on this day on this time precisely. In the same way they analyzed these positions years together patiently and noted down the movement. Later at the end of the day they gave a set of equations to trace the orbit and plot the exact positions of Jupiter at any point of time. Like this they calculated for all the planets and gave us the exact precise equations for movement of all planets.
All these they did without the help of any satellite or super computer millions of years ago. Now who we can say the real scientists are? The ones who did these research to the aid of mankind in those times or the ones of these modern times who steal other’s works or do research just for the sake of a big reward, fame and huge sum of money which is waiting to come from the royalty of their patent.
Now, the thing left is plot those positions on a sheet of paper. It’s as simple as eating a candy. The above figure of the kundali (1) is nothing but the planetary positions. Consider earth at center. Each block represents 12 different constellations. Each constellation is divided to 30 degrees. Therefore total 12 constellations come up to 360 degrees, that’s earth’s circular plane (one full rotation). The planetary position where in which planet is pointing ‘phase (paada) of the star' is also given for each planet as shown in figure (2).
Ascendant is also called ‘Lagna’, the point where we should start reading kundali it depends on the time of that day and it’s calculated after sun rise.
We know earth moves round the sun keeping sun as center of solar system. Now in this geocentric system we can say sun moves round the earth as earth’s position is fixed in origin (center). As earth takes 365 days to move round the sun, in geocentric system we can say sun takes 360 days to move round the earth. In other words we can say there will be 360 sunrises in total if sun completes one whole revolution round the earth.
For every 30 days the sun moves from one house to another house and it’s called end of old Masa(old month), or Starting of new Masa(new month). So there are 12 months in total, 30 days each, 360 days (sunrises) in total which denotes sun has finished rotating 360 degrees round the earth.
That’s our Hindu calendar. The very architecture of it shows the beauty of our ancient civilization and science.
Where in the Roman calendar what we use is soo unscientific. March 31 days and April 30 days it seems. Total 365.25 days blah blah blah!. And names of the months are named according to the old kings who ruled their land and are in no way related to us. Whereas our Hindu calendar is so scientific having 12 different constellation names and the equivalent season names like ‘Shravana masa’, ‘Aashada masa’, etc keeping angles and seasons into consideration.
So when do u people want to celebrate your birthday? Is it on the most uncertain day of roman calendar or on the scientific day at which Sun & Moon(who are the life givers of this planet) comes to a position, same position as when u were born?
Now here is an interactive session for you all to work on. Ask your mom on which masa(month) and on which nakshatra you were born, and write that in the comments column below. Let’s see how many readers are reading these blogs with interest!
In the next topic I will discuss about the planetary wave’s action on human minds, the main base where astrology stands!
